--Fall is a wonderful time of year highlighted by Thanksgiving and Halloween celebrations. The days become shorter, nights cooler and the colours of autumn start to appear. We are surrounded by the beauty that Mother Nature presents us with.
As the kids start to count down the days to October 31st, preparations for Halloween begin. The excitement of selecting the right costume, carving the perfect pumpkin and the joy of being silly, goofy and scary for an evening.
What are the hot costume picks for 2016? Watch out for anything with superheroes, Paw Patrol, Pokeman and Suicide Squads.
Sunshine, rain, sleet or snow…..it doesn’t matter; the kids will be outside having a ball collecting candy, acting silly and scary…..boo!
Having fun outside with your friends and family is extremely important but we must remember to be safe and look after each other. Here are some helpful tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable evening is had by all.
Set a time limit for trick or treating. Setup an emergency meeting location; in case anyone gets separated from the group. Make sure your costume fits properly to avoid trips and falls and that it is visible to cars. Adding lights or reflective strips will help. Check all the candy before eating. Throw out anything that looks suspicious. After all the fun and eating please remember to brush and floss your teeth.
P.S. What did the monster eat after the dentist pulled out his tooth? Answer: The Dentist!!

APPLE “TEETH” SNACK’S
- 1 medium Apple
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) creamy peanut butter
- 25 mini marshmallows
- Whole blanched almonds (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Cut apple into wedges using an Apple Wedger and discard core. Using Scoop & Spread, spread peanut butter along one side of each apple slice. For “teeth”, place five marshmallows in the peanut butter on five of the apples (closer to the skin side of the apple). Press the remaining five apple slices down onto the marshmallows to form a “sandwich” resembling a mouth.
Serves up to 5 people
Cook’s Tips:
For scary vampire teeth, substitute whole blanched almonds for marshmallows.
